Zoho announces Zoho Vault, provides a hub for businesses to manage passwords

Zoho announces Zoho Vault, provides a hub for businesses to manage passwords

Zoho's more commonly known around the interwebs for its document editing tools, but today the service is launching a product that's a little more business-oriented than its Office suite. With the newly introduced Zoho Vault, the company's hoping to give business owners a centralized repository where they can easily manage their passwords online -- something slightly similar to what LastPass offers. Of course, security will likely be very important for potential customers, and Zoho says it'll be able to keep a rigorous lockdown by implementing things such as Host-Proof Hosting, a measure which encrypts passwords at the browser and stores only encrypted data on the server. The Personal Edition of Zoho Vault is available now for free and can be accessed by one person, while the Enterprise Edition costs a mere $1 per month, offers an iPhone app and supports unlimited users.

Intel to launch Celeron and Pentium chips based on Atom architecture

Bay Trail Atom processor

In recent years, Intel's Celeron and Pentium processors have been cut-down versions of more advanced counterparts. For the chips' next updates, Intel is taking an opposite tack -- it's bringing low-end Atom architecture into the big leagues. The company is confident enough in the speed and flexibility of the Bay Trail-based Atom platform that it's launching desktop and laptop versions (Bay Trail-D and Bay Trail-M) under the Celeron and Pentium badges. There isn't much more to share regarding the CPUs beyond their expected releases late in the year, although there's a good chance that we'll learn more at Computex next week.

Rdio intros new social features and redesigned player

Image

Social media streamer Rdio rolled out a major redesign a little over a year ago and has done a bit of tweaking since then. Now, following a recent update to its mobile apps, the service is making even more changes. At the top of the list are methods for getting social on the site, with friends from Twitter and Facebook hitting its front page, alongside their listening habits and influencers selected by the service. You can also check out a curated list of potential friends, if the front page just isn't doing it for you. Autoplay, meanwhile, creates personalized stations and keeps the music going after you're out of ideas, or you can proactively create stations by clicking on album artwork. Also new is a thumbs up / thumbs down voting feature and a full-size player featuring big album artwork and upcoming tracks.

AT&T HTC One gets fix for Media Link HD connectivity

HTC One Media Link update

A quick heads up for those of you rocking the HTC One on AT&T. A software update is available (and has been for a while, actually) that fixes a few things in regards to the Media Link HD, which AT&T gave out to those who preordered HTC's latest and greatest. Specifically, some folks hadn't been able to connect to HTC's high-def streamer because of a software glitch. That glitch has been fixed and is now ready to download. It's a small, 269KB update, takes just a minute or so to do, and basically makes your life seem a little brighter. And fixes the Media Link HD connection.

Update: So the update you see above is the one I pulled down weeks ago via HTC's update mechanism (Settings>About>Software updates) and was recently approved. Today, there's a new 20MB update you get via AT&T's update mechanism (Settings>AT&T software update). AT&T tells us this bigger update contains the new Media Link code -- and presumably something else, but we don't yet know what.

Here's another chance to get an App.net free account - we've got 300 to give away!

Robin

A free App.net account is a great way to test the services and feature that ADN has to offer

The last time we gave away some free App.net invites they went almost as quickly as tickets to Google I/O. Even when the great folks at ADN doubled the number we had to pass around, they still disappeared in minutes. People are curious, and we're back to help satisfy that curiosity with 300 more App.net invites.

These are for free accounts, which are a great way to try out the many services ADN offers. Services like the awesome messaging, or the cloud storage and of course the Twitter-like microblogging platform. There's a lot to ADN and we're happy to work with the folks there to bring people and the services together so they can decide if they want to go all-in with a paid account.

iIf you're looking for an invite, here's where you need to pay attention. Hit the link below and sign up. It's first-come first-served, and they're going to go quickly.

https://join.app.net/from/swzxxymxrc

By using an invitation, you'll automatically follow Android Central, but you can promptly unfollow us if you want to. This is a great way to make sure you have some content in your stream.

Speaking of which, you'll probably want a good way to keep up with news and what's going on from the folks you follow from your Android device. There are a few nice ones out in the wild, but Robin for App.net stands head and shoulders above the crowd. It's got multi-language support, post filters, spam protection, multiple account support and everything else you would want or need from a client, and looks beautiful while doing it. It costs $2.99, but it's well worth it.

Grab your invite, grab your client from Google Play, and we'll see you there!

Elon Musk reveals Tesla's Supercharger network will triple its coverage area this month

Elon Musk reveals Supercharger network will triple its coverage area this month

Elon Musk is being interviewed tonight at the D11 conference, and gave an early preview of news coming tomorrow: his company's Supercharger EV stations will be available in more areas soon. The network will triple its coverage area this month, and he predicts Tesla owners will be able to drive from LA to NY using only Superchargers by the end of 2013. As he mentions, the company is adding more density to "well-traveled routes", as well as increasing overall coverage, but we'll have to wait until tomorrow to get a map. That's all consistent with promises made at the network's launch, when he said it will allow the Model S to drive across the country for free. Another thing making that easier is an incoming software patch for the cars that will let drivers route directly to the nearest Supercharger -- perhaps Tesla can get John Broder to give it a shot first.

There's going to be a dramatic acceleration of the supercharging network. By the end of next month, we'll triple the supercharger coverage area. There's a map that'll go live tomorrow, obviously.

By the end of this year -- you'll be able to drive from LA to NY just using the supercharger network. We're improving the density of superchargers in well-traveled routes, as well as the overall coverage area.

Follow along with our liveblog right here.

Update: The full video of Musk's interview at D11 is now available after the break. Enjoy!

Apple unveils new iPod Touch: 16GB storage, no back-facing camera, $229

Apple unveils new iPod Touch: 16GB storage, no back-facing camera, $229

Well, this is a little out of the blue. Apple has just outed a new iPod Touch that falls in behind its existing 2012 models. We're hesitant to call this the sixth generation, as it's more of a stripped down variant of what's already available. Not many of the specs have changed: the dimensions are identical, you're still getting a 4-inch Retina display, and the same dual-core A5 processor hums away inside. While the new model still has the front-facing FaceTime HD camera, it's lost the 5-megapixel main shooter, and a little bit of weight, to boot (0.06 ounces). Storage capacity has also taken a hit. The other iPod Touch comes in 32GB and 64GB varieties and a number of colors, but this new model sports just 16GB of storage and only comes in silver. Those lesser specs come at a lesser price, and you can snag one from Apple's online store now for $229, with retail locations getting it tomorrow. We reckon this won't be the only Apple product people'll be talking about today. Prepare for the cheaper iPhone rumor to make the rounds again.
